Quality compost can be produced with good feed stock and many different types of equipment. Successful composting systems range from simple windrows turned occasionally with a bucket loader to engineered in-vessel systems. Basic monitoring equipment like thermometers and oxygen meters can be useful in adjusting the composting process. (Selections of compost equipment should be based on a business plan.) A computer-based compost modeling program may help with decisions concerning time, space available, economics, bulking material, equipment, composting system and more. Visit http://cwmi.css.cornell.edu and download "Co-Composter."

This is not an exclusive list. If there is relevant equipment that is not listed here, contact us at cwmi@cornell.edu so it can be added.

This list was prepared in part with funding support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The listing of these products does not in any way constitute an implied or expressed recommendation or endorsement by Cornell, NYSERDA, or the State of New York, nor does it imply the fitness of the equipment for a particular purpose.
