MANURE TREATMENT: ANAEROBIC DIGESTION
Research Project Reports Publications on Anaerobic Digestion- Anaerobic Digesters for Dairy Farms. ABEN Bull. 458
This publication is based on engineering principles, research, and the results of a three-year study of anaerobic digesters operating on three dairy farms in New York State. It examines the fundamentals of anaerobic digestion (how digesters work, types of systems), digester design and construction, gas utilization, gas storage, safety, and management. One section contains three worksheets to help match a biogas system to a particular farm. - Producing Power with Anaerobic Digestion. Edited by the staff of Biocycle

This publication summarizes the results of a one-year study of anaerobic digestion options in York, New York. The overall goal of the study was to determine the technical and economic feasibility of converting dairy wastes to useful products in a centralized anaerobic digestion facility that would serve the York community, an area including approximately 100 dairy farms that maintain a total of more than 30,000 animals within a 20-mile radius. - Anaerobic Digestion in the U.S.
This paper talks about the types of anaerobic digesters used in the United States and discusses their advantages and disadvantages. Evaluation of what type of digester is needed on a farm depends on several factors, for which a feasibility study can be conducted to design the most fitting system.
